Meet an Artist.

Andrew,
Thank You for taking the time to share with us.
Sergey is a Craftsman and Artist, His Work is Museum Quality.

I agree with you, Tim. He takes his artwork very seriously. And his attention to details, artistic taste and talent produce really museum quality compositions. For me it is an honor to work with him. The only downside is - it is very difficult not to keep all of his artwork. I wish I could do it and never sell a single piece, but.....

Andrew,
That is truly unique craftsmanship. Do you do any of the steel/blade work for those pieces? I also see that on one piece the steel is carved with talons. Does he do this as well?.

Thanks for sharing.

Sergey does not forge. Usually he take steel (mosaic Damascus) from a reputable blacksmith and he does all metalwork himself/ Some times he takes a finished blade
For our current project I gave Sergey two blades to choose:

Those were forged by Sergey Epishkin - Master Blacksmith in Tula, Russia

My part is to give Sergey an idea or a finished design. I make knives myself, but Sergey's level is well above mine :) I just admire his works and help him to make living.

Outstanding craftmanship! Thank you for sharing his work, they were all magnificent.

I can't seem to find his full name anywhere.

His name is Sergey Emel'anov, but he is not a computer guy and he is not on the web so far. Also English is not his native language. That is the reason why I represent him here. If you want to contact him, do it trough me, please. I will help. In a few years I will bring him to USA to attend the Blade Show.

Holy SMOKESSS.

Same thing I said aloud when I saw them as well, Don!

That's some SERIOUS talent. And serious patience to go along with that talent. I am in awe.

Andrew, thanks for letting us know about Sergey. There's some extraordinary talent in Russia and it's good to see it appear in the US and the rest of the world.

Worthless if they can't be users.

Ha, just kidding. The term "Amazingly beautiful" does not even come close to accurate. Truly both master craftsman and master artist. When my wife returns from her trip, I've got to show them to her. I tend to look at a well executed production blade and see beauty, the Misses doesn't. But these will blow her off her feet and prove that knives can be both beautiful and artistic at the same time. If I had the money, I'd have this type of thing all over my house.

Keep the pics coming. Amazing.
