I was in York today doing some christmas shopping and met a whole bunch of Gurkhas - very nice guys if a bit quite. I have loads of pictures if anyone is interested !!

Even Two Dogs is smart enough not to find that out the hard way.
:D :D ;)

Didn't see the khuk's unsheathed but they were servcie number ones - very sirupati like. The scabbards were very shiny and they were impecably neat. The bag-piper was wearing a kothimoro.

Brendan, this'll make you jealous, last year I went for a two day visit to Sandhurst (one day I will be a 'inmate' there with luck), we were going to get officers billetts but there was no room due to a visiting unit having taken over so we were given the visiting OR's billits. Anyhow, right in front of our billit was that of the Gurkha Demonstration Company, RMA Sandhurst (the unit of men who demonstrate to the Officer Cadets how it SHOULD be done and act as enemy for them). Had a few conversations with this 'creme de la creme' group and they challenged us to a basketball game (which we respectfully declined). Incidentally, my mates uncle is their CO, lucky so and so!

Anyhow, photos!!! ;)

Have you and your team ever shot the hoops before, were the Gurkhas the Nepalese version of the "Dream Team", or were you all 5'4" and under? Nothing wrong with friendly competition... Cheers!

Actually we were all totally knackered, slightly drunk (yeah, those officer cadets are responsible when dealing with potential officers) and wearing suits. It would have been fun and we tried to organise a match for just before we left but didn't manage it.

And yes, they were a sort of Nepalses dream team and no, most of us didn't play b-ball, mostly rugby fans plus one boxer actually;)

Brendan,

I have a little server space and have just sent you an email asking for some of your pictures to put online.

Thanks, guys, that was great. Brendan, didn't you invite them to share a pint? What they must think of Western hospitality!
