Hello dear friends,
With God's good will today i present you our latest creation - Megalodon - it is a collaboration between me and a good friend of mine, enthusiast knifemaker and tools addict
For this project we had access to his high end workshop and machines that i only dream to have someday - ok that was not all as the lack of experience into using them posed few challenges on the road but in the end the result makes me more than happy. We also had a lot of factory designs at hand that he vectorized over time so it was easy to combine, tweak and fit in order to make a nice, fully working setup without too much designing work with the advantage of keeping the price way more reasonable without any sacrifice in quality and materials
Everything from frame to blade and scales was CNC cut but even if what remained to do might seem easy it was in fact a huge amount of work into details. We also broke so many carbide endmill bits until we found the right settings for the machine to cut tight slots with very thin endmills into stainless - nasty job
That being said we have stainless steel frame that was 'skeletonized' to make it lighter, 12c27 stainless steel blade, phosphorous bronze washers and stainless steel fittings. The scales are black linen micarta and carbon fiber twill for bolsters. All metal parts were acid etched and stonewashed.
The knife also has a pocket clip for ease of carry.
The thumb stud is hand turned from carbon fiber and neon orange G10.
The knife is meant to be a handsome workhorse hence it is not a flipper but a tight action, rigid setup that still opens easily with one hand; it has a strong detent and a crisp and strong lock.
The blade measures app 3.14" with an overall length of app 7".
The price for this guy is 250 usd.
All the best, God bless,
Bogdan
