Soo I decided to dye my forum knife and thought you all may like to see. First off I should say that I DO really like the white covers, in fact I voted for them and still think they look very classy. Basically my curiosity just got the best of me the other night, and I decided to "age" it a little just for fun. I've been carrying and using it daily and have really enjoyed this one. I truly hope no one would be offended that I altered it, I VERY much appreciate all the hard work that went into the planning and organization of this fine knife. My wife especially didn't think I should post this because maybe it would seem like I was unhappy with the original. Which couldn't be farther from the truth. I love the knife, and just made it a little more personal is all.

If anyone wonders how the dye job went, it was extremely easy. Tan Fiebing's dye, and 2 minutes was all it took. Just dabbed it over both sides, waited about 5 seconds and ran the whole thing under water. Then rubbed it down really well with a paper towel. This removed any staining on the bolsters/shield/springs. The micarta took the dye better than I expected, the tan dye left the covers a kind of aged yellow. I'm really digging it:)

Let me know what you think, or even if you hate it haha. Real life color is more like the first pic, the others were taken in the kitchen. Thanks for looking

Take care -Casey

I happen to like the end result but more than anything I like the fact it truly is "your" knife---unique like you.

Job well done!!!

Paul

I'm pleasantly surprised to see how evenly the dye took, with no "blotchiness" visable. Great job!

I was wondering when the first dyed forum knife would appear - I'm surprised it took as long as it did! The white covers make an excellent canvas for experimenting. I think yours turned out very nice, indeed.

No worries about modifiying knives around here - we dip, , dab, grind, and sand on lots of different knives. Good job!

I'm torn.I like that you personalised it and top marks for a the dye job.
It looks good and yet it looks like ...and this could be due to the lighting of the pics...yeller delrin. There I've said it.
Not that theres anything wrong with that and you have a unique knife now.
Thanks for showing and for initiative.

I like it better than the original but I am a sucker for yellow so its kind of a given. :) Good job & thanks for sharing!

I like it, but it does look a little "forced"....

Mine shows some naturally occurring mellow, I think I'll wait for time....

Casey, that looks like a pretty cool dye job - I'm also amazed at how evenly it took. Now, I wonder who will be first to convert their knife into a Wharncliffe? OH

Looks good. I'm not a big fan of the super bright white covers so I can see why you couldn't resist. I'm glad it doesn't really look like yellow delrin as some of the pictures indicate. This "antique" color looks much better.

Looks great! I love the looks of the original, too, but it's neat that yours looks good and is truly unique to you now. Can't beat that!

I think it came out nice, personally though mine has already began developing a pocket patina which is beginning to yellow the scales a little so I'm gonna wait and let it occur naturally.

Your knife, never be afraid to change our modify it, I took a custom made for me by a local maker and did a mod, when he saw it, he liked it.
