Melon Testers & ebay finds

Very impressive knives on a great topic, thanks for starting it....I have always loved fruit/melon knives since I farm citrus/peaches for a living. We used to get these knives from the chemical/fertilizer salesmen who called on us but the heyday of free gifts ended a few years ago. The funny thing is that after 25 years of farming I really never used them very much because I found them long in the pocket and difficult to keep sharp compared to a carbon trapper...This is not to say that they are not used everyday at the farm, I watched my partner whip his out today to cut a peach slice as he tested the quality of the fruit...

Thanks and take care,

Sunburst

This one is kind of neat. another one with a fork. all stainless steel with a partially serrated blade with a chisel grind. the ebay auction said it was 20~ years old.

I have one more coming from ebay this week then i'm going to hold off on buying any more for a while. I'll post a family portrait after the last one arrives.

Too bad freedom's pictures aren't working anymore! My dad just gave me this melon tester. Looks like an inexpensive advertising knife, but it's a pattern I didn't have yet. I can imagine all sorts of great applications for it. I'm pretty sure he's cleaned a few turkeys with it!
