Anyone here have anything by Melvin Dunn of Rossville, KS? I just picked up my third, his Sliver model today. Great little knife. Absolutely fantastic wokmanship. Melvin caters to the hunters, fisherman, and trappers. His designs are simple, very well thought out, and purpose driven.

I have a 6" fillet knife by Melvin, and bought his sharpening system.

Melvin has put a lot of time and effort into developing a very good heat treat for 440V.

I sent him some ironwood, and my fillet came out great.

Melvin is a bit strange and distant to deal with on the phone, you have to kind of pump him for information. He sent me a very mild and inoffensive religious message with the shipment, I thought inappropriate, but also inoffensive.

But don't let that stop you, his work is excellent and is worth seeking out if you like his standard designs (he isn't much on taking any custom orders, say, with your sketch).
 
Melvin's blades take and hold an incredible edge. Both 440V and D-2.
