So we're clear, this is the deal...a few years ago inherited a Puma 'White Hunter' that I sold, and later regretted selling...
Some 18 months ago I came across Mike Irie at the Blade West show, and he had his knife, the MFK, that looked kinda like a 'tactical' version of the WH...but I didn't have the money for it at the time...
Fast forward a year, the next BW show, and there is Mike again, with the MFK...only now he's taking orders only, so I put in an order.
3 months go by, I contact Mike, and he's been ill, and was behind on his orders. "No problem, whenever" sez I.
3 months more and Mike contacts me, "The knife is ready...if you still want it." Well, I didn't. We're going to the Oregon show and I was trying to raise cash. But, I'd already committed to it, so I bought it.
I anguished a bit over selling it because it's a really cool knife, with some special 'stuff' that I'd spec'd, like the sharpened false edge. But, with all my money raising efforts going to the OKCA show, this knife wasn't going to get in the way of that effort, so I sold it.
Look, it's not easy for me to sell knives that I like, but once the decision is made, it's a done deal, time to move on...and I'd like to put it behind me now please.
As far as it's usability/collectibility...that knife was made to be used, and I was never going to use it, that was the major deciding factor in my selling it.
Someday I'll regret selling this one too, because Mike isn't going to make anymore of them, and it is a really cool knife to boot. But we're trying to finish off the 3 collections we've been working on for the last 2 years...and we're getting ever so close!
Also, Alan, you were first to ask for it...there were three other forumites in line behind you. Enjoy the knife buddy. You got a great deal on a great knife.
Anyhoo, enough of this, it's painful to think about, and I have nothing further to add....so, no more questions or comments about this please, as I won't respond.
Thanks again guys,
Mel
