I've noticed many of you do not have email addresses listed. Some used to have them, but withdrew. I'm not trying to probe personal or security issues, but am curious if anything has been going on around here I'm not aware of. Have there been virus attacks or crank calls?

The down side of not being reachable is missing out, on who knows what? I wanted to notify a member of a M43 for sale, was considering offering a pauper some petrified wood, and once thought of a peace gesture towards a poster with a different political ideology than my own.

When doors are closed bad stuff can't get in, but neither can good stuff. I don't mean this to be moralistic or a challenge. People will do what is right for them. But I am curious if others have had some experiencs I haven't. I've only been on the net a little over a year.

Gee munk...and all I ever got from you was lip...:D:D:eek:

Seriously, though, it only aggravates me when I need to get ahold of someone who has already sent me an email and I have lost it...

psst...is Ferrous listening...?

Interesting point, munk.

I've been using email on the net for about 10 years now, and most of the stuff that I receive consists of junkmail. Using the same address that long has its disadvantages.

But there is a lot one can do to (1)filter the crap out and (2) build a save environment. 99% of the spam mail does not get past my filters. Staying away from MS Outlook or Outlook Express as a mail client and using a Firewall helps a lot for part 2. So I do list my email address.

Kind regards,
-Emile

Pendentive, there's always the possibility I'll send coal!!

I too, wanted to email Ferrous.

Munk:

I switched to an anonymous e-address based on SamuraiDave's (I think) experience with Bladeforum-related threats.

S.

I have heard from someone previously about wierd threats/bad mail. Very disturbing to think someone here might be sick.

I've said this before, but I've found bladeforums to be very kind compared to many gun forums, my exact opposite impression of knife owners. Yeah, I admit it, knife owners to me were always the ninja dreamers type who surrounded themselves in fantasy and BudK reproductions. Movies play into this; remember the numerous psychopath characters in film sharpening some long Arkansas Toothpick?
As for what has happened to many gun forums, I can't figure this out. In the real world gun owners are a great Clan to belong to, sharing and knowledgable. On forums too often a sick kind of one-upmanship reigns.

You knife guys here though, and I mostly mean here in HI, are knowledgable and kind and have taught me everything I know about steel.

We've had round-the-clock surveillance on your "location" for months now. You gotta do something about that lawn.

Kis

..it's not just the lawn; he's been feeding the neighborhood cats.

Those guys died of boredom a couple of weeks ago.

Munk-

I stayed with a bunch on a gun forum for a long time & the longer I stayed, seemed like the wierder things got......fellers I knew & had hunted with & etc. suddenly thought they were Carlos Hathcock(RIP) & knew more than Jack O'Connor, Elmer Keith, George Nonte & every reputable gun writer known to man........man, I gotta have a bigger, hotter caliber that I can hand-load using a syrup bucket for a powder measure, & I can shoot 1/2" groups @600 yards in the rain with a sprained wrist & one eye closed!!!!! Transformation into the biggest bunch of macho b*ll Sh*t I ever heard. Only place I go to now is here with UB & y'all. I think I listed my e-mail address. Use it anytime I can help. Don't know much, but the info I give out is worth ever' penny you pay fer it!

More than 99% of the time I have enjoyed this forum very much. I would hate to think of HI forum turning into what some of the other forums have. I lurked around the net for quite a while before joining this forum because I didn't see some of the garbage here that was present on some of the others.

I just hope that we can all get along without a bunch of friction and threats. I don't think any of us need this and I know that Uncle Bill doesn't need it either.

I'm off my soap box now.:)

I only restrict access to my email if I have a concern about getting spammed. Becuase I work in very high-visibility positions in a small community, I expect that anyone who goes looking for me will find me eventually. Never really worried about it much.

er, Munk? Exactly what has he been feeding the cats? ..Kismet

I was hoping you knew...the damn cats expect to be fed, and there's more of them since those agents disapeared. Really, Bruise is getting as bad as one of those senile cat ladies. He's been seen folding and saving brown grocery bags, apparently several palets full...it's looking pretty bad. The cats are feral but have this protective attitude towards the property; you can't get near, and can't see them coming because Bruce stopped mowing the lawn and the grass and debris is three feet high.

I'm just glad he's able to keep his sense of humor about life as exhibted by his posts here. That can't be easy, with all the cat feces and stuff in the house.

munk

Depending on what you feed the cat, the feces can make a good polishing rogue.

:barf:

e-mail me and I'll send you some. :)

I wonder if it'll get past customs.

And besides, we've kept count on every post Bruise has made on BF. Come to think of it, you could say we've always had his number.:D :D :D

Yep. Email is:

ksauers@indy.rr.com

Email away!

ask and ye shall receive! I usually prefer to offer my email up when requested. Cuts down on the freak factor if I post it in a thread instead of in my profile. If someone stormed onto the forums w/ trouble in mind and started looking at profiles, they would not get my email. They'd hafta search thru thread after thread to find the 4 times I've posted the email address...and its not likely they'd bother.

Still, I'm not as paranoid as Bruise.

LOL!!... :D:D

Sorry, Bruise...this conjured up all sorts of ideas in my head...

In order of appearance:
Ghetto Bruise
Greek Bruise
Good 'ole Bruise
Teriyaki Bruise
Dancin' Bruise
Pizza Bruise
and now...
The Ghost of Bruise Present
or...
Casper's evil twin Bruise

Frightens the neighbors, hunts feral cats for their "dung", stays locked in his house (despite being able to float through doors), hides from people (even though we can't see him anyway)...guarding the entrance to his sacred lair of mirror-polished, wood laden, deformed truck springs...

oooooooooooooooo........oooooooooooo........
