Taken from Mendowood's site:
"A naturally occuring knob of the American Whitethorn, a close relative of the Irish Greenbriar. Finished with acrylic.
The Whitethorn is a species of the Crataegus genus which is a member of the Rosaceae family (Rose). It is also known has Hawthorn or Hawthorn berry. The shafts are made of 3/4" diameter steel pipe coated with epoxy and have a wood core. The shape is uneven simulating a "natural" stick. The finish of the stick is smooth and polished...."
This one is a whopper! It measures 38" in OAL (measured from the bottom of the rubber tip to highest point on the handle), the Whitethorn handle/knob is 4-1/2" at its widest point, and the shaft is 1" in diameter. According to my cheap-O kitchen scale, this shillelagh/walking stick wieghs in at 2-1/2 pounds!
This stick has never been used. removed
Truely a unique piece.
