Am I the only one thats heard little to nothing about them? Is it because they make Striders and Busses look inexpensive? Does anyone have any experience with them and would like to share it? Can I ask any more questions? :p

you are bound to get porked for not using the search function. since i don't care too much for the search function myself (yet i still use it to avoid getting porked), i'll indulge you with what i've heard.. the knives have a somewhat cheesy ad campaign, & they haven't gotten any reviews beyond average/blah. i've heard complaints about handle feel, & other mechanics as well. as far as the fixed blades go, i've just seen one of them put up for sale here pretty soon after the guy bought it. they're considered to be way overpriced, and i agree with this for my own personal taste, judging from what i can see of their materials & design. perhaps an owner, or former owner can chime in, as can someone who'll tell you to use the search function.

 ohhh of cooooourse the search function, silly me posting a new thread on a dead horse like mercworx. Maybe I'll just ask what everyone edc's next

Hey, let's be fair.
It has been a while, and it's possible their custom service and QC has improved, any news anyone?

I have kinda been thinking the same thing for a while. It seems like a lot of the threads are basically this edc thing but there are tons of answers. Then a new idea like this gets shot down because you didn't use the search function. That stupid search function always fails whenever I try to use it anyways.

I have never handled any of them. One of the guys on another forum liked the big fixed blades. Some of the folders did have quality control problems and slow customer service on fixing them. The ones that worked were supposed to have been worth the aggravation, though -- big, tough knives.

But we're not going to hear much without some outreach by the company and more satisfied customers. It's hard to judge a knife that doesn't seem to sell.

I'll go ahead and be your guinnea pig guys...I just took the plunge and have a Lachesis folder and a Vorax Chili on the way. Very solid knives with great maker reputation. Also, if anyone really cares to buy one after I give y'all my review, I'll tell you where I got both of mine for $80 off the average list prices of $400 each. That was the only way I was going to spring for them both. It pays to do your homework. The Lachesis should be here by the end of the week.

Handled a couple of them last weekend, the Clotho folder, the Sniper and its Chili Pepper version...they are decent knives, both of their fixed blade handle styles are comfortable and the blades look wicked, but IMO that doesn't justify their price. You can get a neat custom with a similar price tag. I realize that they're handmade, but know neither the maker's name or reputation nor can I give input on the design, that makes them "midtech" knives at best.

Concerning the folder: I'd say that its fit & finish is similar to older Microtechs, very well-made, but other manufacturers won't charge you that much money for the same amount of quality.

Their Seraphym was so beautiful that I bought the Benchmade push dagger just because the blade shape was the same :p

Newbie here. I got a Lachesis (middle size folder) for about $50 off list, which is still a spendy knife. I used it for a couple weeks, and it cut fine, felt fine in the hand. Sorry, but I have no paper/rope/car door cutting reports.

To be honest, I was more turned off by the looks, the micarta looked kind of lame. So I had Rainy Vallotton redo it with bone scales and he rainbowed the Ti bolsters. Man, is it a looker now! I will post some pics tomorrow.

I like it fine. I've cut veg, cut branches, opened mail/boxes/etc, and done some light carving with it, and it works great. I can see where if you were really working it hard, and maybe had fluids involved, the handle (back end) might slide around in your grip. Anyway, I hear that was the main reason for the Chili Pepper handle on the fixed blades, better grip.

Just my $0.02. Different strokes for different folks. BTW, I dig the Striders, the MTs, the Daltons, never too many, I say.

I liked the Seraphym's looks... a lot. And I went through a period in time when I was on a big push-knife kick, but I never got to the pay-$275-for-one level...

I was really looking closely at the BM CBK, how is it, Esav?

Seems to me, one of the major blunders Mercworx made was their over the top, mysterious, and somewhat insulting ad campaign, which now, with the advent of Dork Ops, seems remarkably sensible and restrained... :)

You don't suppose that Dark Ops was started by Mercworx to make themselves look good, do you?
:D

You may be on something Mr. G! :) I'll be interested in hearing the report rkclimber, especially on the folder, as I've always liked the looks of them.

Does anyone know who actually makes the knives? I tried to score a sweet little keychain framelock knife from a custom knifemaker who said he couldn't help me out becuase he was up to his eyeballs contracting for Mercworx. Didn't seem like the type of knifemaker who would make that sort of knife, but whatever.

You do realize that you are pretty much asking us to tell you the name of the knifemaker you contacted?

Actually, all I'm asking is if anyone knows who actually makes the knives. When I talked to this maker a year ago I can't remember whether he said it was confidential or not, so I'd prefer to err on the side of caution. Just asking.
