Has anyone had a pair of these shoes? I just picked up a pair and wondered what others thought (I haven't got to try them yet, although they felt nice in the store).

Footwear is mainly about fit. What matters is if you like them.
I have fugly hobbit feet... I wear a 4E width in New Balance, 2E in some other brands. If you want to hear about footwear for fugly hobbit feet, I could talk your ear off.
Put on a 50lb pack and walk around town for a few hours; you'll know if they're right for you or not.

I just got a brand new pair and wore them on a 3 day, 20 mile backpacking trek across some really rugged mountains. They were very comfortable, and I did not get any blisters.
But they were boots. I am not sure what you, but merrell is a good brand.
