Got to make a new belt order. Was thinking of trying a few of the budget ceramics. I don’t expect them to hold up to 984’s but how do the merrit and VSM belts hold up for the price?

I find the vsm a very good value. Nothing better than 3M 984, haven’t tried the Merrit yet.

Has anyone devised any repeatable testing techniques for ceramic belt life?

Edit: I've used VSM and liked them!

Good.. I’m going to order some 984’s again but I noticed Pops is carrying the VSM too. I’d like to try them out

Merrit never seemed to last for me.

VSM will give you good mileage for the $$$

Plus one on the VSM. I love the Norton Blaze belts but the VSM are half the price and Blaze are already pretty good value. I feel like I get about 70% of a blaze at least with what I do.

+1 VSM

Tried some on my last belt order and am pleased with them considering the price.

For the time being, I'm sticking with the 984F's in 36 and 60 grit. Still a good value for my needs. But, I think I'm going to switch to the VSM's in 120 grit. For whatever reason, I actually prefer them in 120 grit to the 984F 120.
