So my father had some custom knives made for the whole family and we finally got to open them on Christmas. These two are Mrs. Tankerwolfs and mine. Two trailing point slicers made with the old hardwood flooring of the house my father grew up in (aprox 70 years old?). I can't tell you how gratefull I am for him to have a piece of history made into a wonderful knife. Thank you so much. Love you. Todd thank you as well for turning these into such beautiful pieces. I can't wait to start slicing some stuff with them. We're at the in-law's house right now so "not my circius, not my monkeys". There is really nothing to cut yet. Soon though. Until I get some better pics here is a quick shot of the knives and my original Hunt knife. (yes I brought it with in case I got to play in the woods behind their house)

that's awesome!
I'm especially happy to hear that even though you were surrounded by in-laws you found no need to cut anyone. ;)
Merry Christmas!

Greg, im glad you like them. I'm also glad I didn't let the secret out since your Dad made the order at the Atlanta Blade show and you was standing within 10 ft. of him when he did it. It was a absolute pleasure working with your Dad and if he didnt tell you, we had a great visit when he came through Indiana coming home from Thanksgiving.

I also was very honored that he trusted me with this project. I love it when people bring me into to projects like this that involve there families and heirlooms to be passed down through generations. Its stuff like that that really brings joy into what I do.

Enjoy the knives buddy. Hope to see you guys again very soon.

That's a really cool story man, thanks for sharing. Those are special knives indeed!

Excellent, Greg! Those are pretty cool. Not only do they have an excellent story and some family history behind them, but they look great to boot..... Oh, and knowing Todd, I'm sure they cut great as well. I'm looking forward to more pictures!

Tankerwolf, you're welcome and I love you too. Hope you and Mrs. TW get many years of enjoyment from your knives. Now as to the "approx 70 years old"-if you're referring to the age of the house, it's more like 128 yrs old and been in the family since abt 1905. Flooring may be original but is definitely preWWII. If you're referring to me,........well, we'll talk later.

Todd, thank you for taking some steel and old oak wood and turning it into beautiful knives to be used and cherished for many many years to come. I could not be more pleased with the result. Thanks also to Murph for his work on the knives and to young Jared for making the lanyards. Having also seen some of Jared's work with steel, I have a feeling it won't be long before we see T.M.Hunt & Son Custom Knives. Finally, thanks to Silverthorn for showing me his TP Magua at Blade 2014 and sparking the idea.

Todd, thoroughly enjoyed my visit with you, Gina and Jared. And thanks for not posting pics before Christmas as Tankerwolf has been known to prowl these forums. They need to be seen,so,...TMHunt trailing point Maguas with handles of 2034 W Melrose oak wood .jpg

I'm glad they went to a good home. I hope they serve you all well and serve as a constant reminder of where you came from and the man that gave them to you.
