hey guys.. how goes it...
well christmas is almost here and as with most folks we're a bit on the broke side... it's no big deal... our kids are the most imortant.. in terms of gift giving.... the misses and i had only planned on getting each other a few little things....
anyhow... many thanks to my/our good buddy BOOMSTICK... i now am the proud new owner of this waaaaay cool Yucca quiver.... Darren and his girlfriend Trish, are going to be out of town during x-mas, so we exchanged gifts last weekend...
these are made out of the hollowed out stocks of yucca trees.... they were also used by CA. native americans, as well indigenous peoples of south america....
this one is really cool... it's a 2 strap quiver, intended to be worn like a backpack... it fits my arrows fit in nice and deep... it matches my primitive bows quite well...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yucca
it also has some sheep skin lining the inside of the opening... keeping the noise down to a minimum....
and well i got you all here.... check these out....................
seeing how i get knives and sharp things on a regular basis, through out the year, i rarely get any for x-mas... these were a gift to myself... well David and I worked out a nice trade...
for those of you that don't know David.. he's a stand up guy and super easy to do buisness with... he's a regular on quite a few forums....
his knives are all reasonably priced and insanely sharp.... i don't think i have ever found any that compare...
check out todays haul.... 4 Farmer knives in one day...
from top to bottom: osage utility in 1095, nordic utility in O1 and teak scales, personal in osage and 1095 and a small necker in 1095 and teak... none of these knives, with the exception of the necker, have sheaths, so i have a lot of leather work to get started on...
i loooooove this nordic utility.... this is davids full tang version of a puuko.. the lines just seem to flow and it nestle's right into my hand...
here's the osage utility.. another great design.. super comfortable in the hand and of course, wicked sharp....
and now the osage personal.... this is a great all around little knife... David sells a lot of these... it's going to make a nice EDC blade...
i forgot to take another pic of the necker...
cheers.. mike t
