Merworx, don't believe the "two week" promise

I ordered and paid for 3 knives from Nigel back in mid May. He assured me I would have them in "two weeks". That was 4+ months ago and I'm still waiting.

I called Nigel in late August and he said 2 of my 3 knives were finished and he would have them shipped promptly. That was over a month ago and I haven't received anything.

My e-mail sent last week has not been answered. Today I sent another e-mail asking for my money back. I no longer want these overpriced Merworx knives and caution anyone that hears the "two weeks" sales pitch. I will call these wonderful religious types tomorrow and get into their mess kit. Save yourself the same trouble if you are considering buying from MercWorx.

I couldn't agree with you more. Overpriced and under serviced. Keep your cash in your pocket or look at alternative choices.

I sympathize with your situation, but I have a question. Did you decide that they were overpriced after having this problem, or did you originally order three knives that you felt were overpriced?

Why does that make any difference? Bottom line is he paid for them (couldn't have been too overpriced at that point or he couldn't have afforded them), has waited waaaaaay over the "two weeks" and he wants his hard earned money back...........why the questions?????

The moral of the story is to order or buy MWs from a stocking dealer, and DO NOT ORDER FROM THE COMPANY. The MW company will take your money at time of order with promises of fast delivery and you will wait... and wait... and wait. Except for you Keith, you need to order direct from the MW factory.

I think what Keith is trying to say,is knocking the makers price after the fact isn't really neccessary.
We all don't like crappy service, and I would be pissed just too, if the company lied. There is no excuse for poor customer service.Knocking the price though doesn't make sense since you ordered the knives knowing the cost in advance.Good Luck with resolving the issue.

I can't agree.........the price should reflect the worth/value the seller/manufacturer has/conveys in their product and that should also include a heathly dose of decent Customer Service, without having to ask. :barf:

Why don't we see how many knives they sell if they tell prospective buyers up front that after the sale, there is NO service.........hell, ya don't even get your damn knives!!!!!!!

The question is just for my own interest. It doesn't really matter, but I was just wondering if Ten Ring thought the knives were overpriced, why he bought them I know it has nothing to do with the actuall complaint that he has. He most certainly has received poor customer service and this is nowhere near the first time I have heard of these kinds of problems from this company. As things stand, with their current level of customer service, I would never consider purchasing anything from MercWorx.

Oh,I agree if there is no customer service the knives won't have value at any price for the most part. There is no excuse for the way he is being treated.I'd be more than pissed if I was in his shoes, and probably would not have been as nice with my complaint post.

And to think that I came SOOO close to ordering a few blades directly from Nigel early last year. I'm sorry to hear of your plight but fortunate that I avoided that particular pitfall due to funds being directed elsewhere.

I hope that you end up on top regarding this.

I also mentioned over priced. Speaking for myself I do not consider MW an inexpensive item..actually on the upper scale of the money I want to lay out. I consider value for dollar..bang for the buck..has to also include service. The service was not in line with the money spent..therefore the knife was overpriced.

All you have to do is go under the search & see what I have said about them in the past.

Their customer serivice is absolutely horrible! Trying to get Nigel on the phone is a joke & e-mails are NEVER answered! I have some friends that are dealers & they will no longer carry ANY MercWorx products because of all the B.S going on with them.

One thing that you'll notice about the products, that when they 1st came out with the folders, the liners were thick. But as time went by, they were no longer producing the knives in house. They, so I was told by dealers in the industry, said that MercWorx was contracting knifemakers outside their company to make the knives for them. By doing so, the quality went south BIG TIME & the liners got thinner. Blade grinds were off on all the ones I looked at & trying to release the lock was a bear! Quality is obviously not their concern over there.
Pitty, I really like the feel of my Lachesis folder & it handles alot of abuse, but if you can't get cusomter service, then forget it. That company will be out of business before long & it serves them right!

You are of course correct and I am pretty sure that is the way Ten Rings feels about things as well. My apologies for a question that never really needed to be asked.

I'm happy to report that my MW knives arrived today and they are real beauties. Playing with them reminds me why I ordered them in the first place.

I want to be clear about the purpose of my post... MW knives are best purchased from stocking dealers. I recommend ordering from MW directly only if they have your knife in stock. Go through stocking dealers and you will avoid having to prepay, plus you will get realistic timing for when your knife will be ready.

Glad to hear that your knives finally arrived and that you are happy with them.....enjoy!
