Took the girls out to Meas Verde for a drive and VERY short hike. The 2 year old don't quite hack it on anything less than 100 yards and ends up sitting in the sand refusing to do anything but play in the dirt...that said here are a bunch of shots I took today. Decided to play with the features on my Canon G7 and got some very apocalyptic results. Kinda looks like the set of The Road. Enjoy.

WOW-You weren't kidding about it looking like the "Road". I haven't been down there for quite a few years. I don't remember the landscape looking like that !!

Sweet pics. I hope to see Colorado with my own eyes. One day, one day...

Gold? Gold you say? Yes!

I think if the sky was overcast or there were some dark clouds then it would have been even closer to a few scenes in the road

Nice pics

In '94 my wife and I flew into LV, drove to the Grand Canyon, stayed at the S. rim for a couple days then drove through the 4 Corners area on our way to our destination, Denver.
As we were going by the Mesa Verde area my wife said how she had always wanted to check that out, so a sharp right hand turn and we're on our way.....nobody told us it was a 45 minute drive from the main road....but well worth it.
He had dinner and spent the night in Durango that night......trip of a life-time.
I could live forever in Pegosa Springs.;)
Thanks for bringing back those memories.

Yeah I think 26 miles from the entrance.
Pagosa Sucks terribly.
That is why I live in Durango. :D

Sure looks bad compared to when I spent time there. I lived in the four corners area for about four years and was all over that area, as well as Canyon DeChelly and numerous other known and unknown sights through out that area from the Ute, to the Hopi to the Zuni and other nations near the Navajo where we lived. The beauty of that is that usually it grows back in time and becomes lush and green again. It will take a while though. Thanks for the pics.
