Only ask for one back to start with. Make sure it's a cool, yet inoffensive knife, perhaps your smallest. Prove that you can be responsible with it and work up from there.

My mother was the "queen of the sheeple" up until about 2 years ago...
Bought her a spydie ladybug(black CE) for her keys(she kept asking me to cut stuff for her)... then when I bought a LM micra this last fall I gave her the Buck MiniTool off my keys... she carries both on her keys now, and actually takes pride in using them.
Every once in a while I grab her keys and check the edge on the ladybug.
My mother didn't like when I got my first(age 5, from my grandfather for a bday gift), and now she asks about my newest ones and fondles em too...
if I can convert mine, anyone should be able to convert thier mother. Only took 13yrs from my first knife. She still doesn't like me carrying as many as I do, but thats it.
