Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but:

1. Why does everyone remove the price after something sells? It would be nice to see what things have sold for recently when trying to price one's own knives.

2. Why are people now replacing typed prices with $1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣? It looks like a slot machine and I want to spin it. :)

A dead horse of a topic with plenty if threads on the subject.
It's the seller's choice to do so, and the reasons vary but essentially boil down to nunya.

What is your goal when trying to price and sell your knives? Maximize profit? A fair price yet minimize loss? Get rid of it quickly?
What kind of knives? Custom or production?

#1 Time to beat the dead horse again!.. but really I ask too and there is some reason but boils down to preference

#2 I see this on FB and I think it helps circumvent some auto blocking on FB and might be that these sellers just copying over information and have an item double listed.

I didn't know that about #2. For me, it makes it more difficult to see the price clearly.

Tough to find by searching...

But fortunately mqqn mqqn compiled a list of such threads for reference!

That's a Facebook thing. Facebook auto-deletes posts a lot and if you put in a dollar figure in normal text, it will default to a sales-type post, and ones with knives get flagged and deleted a lot. Facebook is one of the worst parts of the knife community. Only Instagram and Reddit can compete with how bad the big Facebook knife bazaar groups are.

#1 My takeaway as posted in many of those threads is that people started asking sellers to remove prices is to maximize profits on resale...that's the only reason I can think of.

#2 People breaking the rules by selling on Facebook are copying the ads to here...helpful because I probably don't want to deal with someone like that;)

What I do on all of my sales Threads, is once the knife has been sold, I will mark it as Sold on the Thread title- nothing more grates me when I see a knife- pop in to have a look and it's sold and been sold for some time - why do that?- let everyone know it's gone and dont waste your time in coming in?

I edit all my sales Threads for many reasons, there's nothing shady in my deals at all- in fact I sell quite a few knives for good causes, Gift a lot of very nice Knives and expensive ones, have giveaways etc, but......I house clean- my for-sales threads are wiped clean after the deals done and knives are shipped. I take back used up space- even though that's a very small reality of saving there I know - but still.
Another big part is I consider the price of the knife that has been sold to the buyer non of your business at all - most serious buyers are in the Threads often - they may pass it by the first, second or third time - but once you start dropping prices and it sells- and that person wants to know what it sold for? - well they had their chance and didn't take it up, and there's a reason why Knives sell and you dont see posts- the buyer will contact the seller behind the scenes - because some people dont want it known what they paid for what knife - its no ones business but theirs.

So I am the first to put my hand up and say- yes i do that, but I don't do it for any "shadyness" of any sort and never would!

I'm on one of the biggest knife sale and trade Facebook groups. I... basically would never buy or sell a knife there, and trading is incomprehensible. The sheer number of scammers and just godawful sellers is something to behold. Bad pictures, F&F routine, bad shipping practices... it's insane.

You get those issues everywhere, unfortunately. Some of the facebook groups don't allow F&F either, but that's the exception.
