I am just missing a metal canteen (one I can boil water in) for my Maxpedition Fatboy survival pack.

I have looked around some and cant really find one that looks like a good fit, or more importantly, a good quality.

Anyone know of a good choice, or can confirm the fit (so I can order one online)?

Those look groovy, but I need a shorter wider version, like a traditional GI canteen. However, all the GI canteens I have found are either modern plastic, or the WWII aluminum with plastic caps...

You want the Guyot bottle. Do a search, or just scan the first several posts, and you're sure to find plenty of info. The Guyot bottles are very popular around here.

I'm not sure where to buy, however I think a DHK Steel Canteen is what you are looking for.

I've been unable to find a source for these either. Anyone work for the department of defense and could get us a good deal on a group buy? I'd be in for at least 1.

He's talking about a Fatboy, not a jumbo. It doesn't have a pocket for a water bottle.

You can check out eBay, sometimes you can find a stainless GI canteen for sale.
