Metal Canteen

QUOTE=Nomad333;8211996]What is "wiggy's?"[/QUOTE]

Wiggy's is a company that specializes in sleeping bags and cover garments/shelters. Some of their sleeping bags float, as an example of specialization.

Had both the plastic and metal canteens when I was in the army 45 years ago. The plastic had that awful taste under any circumstance (but especially in the jungles of Vietnam - the iodine tablets helped) but it replaced the metal one for some reason, probably impact resistance. Word of caution - Whichever you choose, don't fill it from a bomb crater filled with white water! :eek:

Kleen Kanteen is the only way to go for me. http://www.kleankanteen.com/

I have two of their 27oz, 1 of the 40oz, and two of the 64oz big boys and love them all. Best metal bottles I've ever owned. Bought my chick two of the pink 18oz with sport tops and she has quit using anything else to take her water with her.

I emailed DHK about their canteens a year or so ago - they were available, but the cost for just the canteen was up around $80 (the cup was around $20) - I lost interest quickly, and instead use a Guyot w/ a humangear capCap (converts the wide mouth to a narrow mouth).

Do you still have the address? I've tried calling and it says that the number is no longer in service.

STAGE 2 -

Sorry, no - I deleted the email (it did take them several weeks & a couple of emails to answer, however). This was over a year ago, IIRC, so they may have gone out of business.

The Wiggy's canteen is a well made product; all stainless construction with a gasket-sealed s.s.lid and a chain "lid leash". They have a s.s. cup to go-with that the canteen fits into, like a G.I. canteen cup. Mine is a U.S.A. model, but I'm not sure if they make 'em here still.

Is the lid chain removable? Looks like a great product, the metal lid is nice to size it can't break/melt. Though the lid being permanently affixed to the bottle may be a pain when boiling water in a fire.
