Metal cutting bandsaw....finally got one

While we're on the subject of bandsaws, I bought mine used. It's a older floor model but in very good shape. It's a vertical-horizontal, but I don't have the work table for cutting vertically. It's similar to the 64 1/2x 1/2 that harbor freight sells. Is there a place I can purchase one that would work on mine? Thanks

Just get yourself a plate of 1/8" mild steel, and fabricate the table from that.

I Did that with my horz/vert., bandsaw to replace the stock table which is very thin sheet. It cut the noise in half by using the thicker plate, plus I have a bigger table.

I think it took me about 1/2 hour total. Very easy.

One tip: When cutting thin stock it helps to back it with plywood or plexiglass to help reduce chipping teeth off the blade.

Mike, I did the same thing, but with 3/8" block of micarta I had laying around.

I made my stand out of wood. I can just sit and saw. JUst take a saw horse and screw a piece of plywood down to it. Bolt small 1/8" tabs or angle to the holes in the saw and your done.....I tried the stand that came with the saw but took it apart since it wobbled so bad.
