Metal dust collection

Re getting the connections to fit ... I don’t know if this will work with the metric sizes ... but in the us you can buy PVC pipe that is close (but not perfect) in size to the dust deputy, and shop vac, connections, then you can use a heat gun to make the pvc pliable enough to slightly shrink or expand (whichever will work) to make the connections. I tried the duck tape approach for a while, and it just does not hold...

They are selling standard sewage pipe parts as "adapters", that's why the the odd 110 mm OD and the excentric position of the 50 mm reduction. Stuff made for dust extraction are always centric in the reductions, and should be conical.

You could get a piece of 100 mm OD ventilation piping and stick it in that adapter and then the 100 mm hose over the other end.

Good prices on cyclones though, I may try one instead of the original dust commander

Only thing is the 100mm tube fits on to the adapter, not in or over it,

This thread inspired me to finally clean up my set-up a little. This is what I had before. A big gulp dust hood with the inlet far from the platen. And corrugated PU hose with poor air flow, also catching fire every now and then..

So I set up a steel tubing system all the way to the cyclone collector (it's a small 1 hp machine made for metall dust and sparks, I think it's branded "Nova" in the US), and got the inlet closer to the platen. Much better. Better air flow/suction and no more smelly fires
