Alan, FWIW, I'm quite sure that posts by Jack Black made me aware of the Boker Atlas, including both steel and copper versions. Maybe he was your "influencer", too.

My rotation schedule didn't assign me an all-metal knife this week, but I always carry this "retirement" Alox Solo among my 4 literal EDCs:

Here's an all-metal keyring-sized multitool that my wife gave me for Christmas once upon a time. I've never carried it, but it's on the kitchen counter almost always. We use it for cutting dog treats and for separating lid from base on plastic or styrofoam food containers. I'll occasionally use it to remove the cap on a beer bottle, but I usually just use a "church key" held by a magnet on the side of the fridge.

Do it, no matter the task it will work and even if it’s hard or dirty you won’t feel bad. A good wash with hot water and soap dry it off and a little mineral oil and it’s good to go. Easy to sharpen and get sharp even on the bottom of a ceramic mug. It’s a great tool.
