Just curious as to what metal protectants everyone here uses.
I have been a big fan of Corrosion-X for years and feel there is no better product that I have seen.
For those unfamiliar with it here is their website:http://www.corrosionx.com/

The Mil-Comm TW25B and TW2500 are the best lubricants I've ever used. Non-toxic, they don't smell bad, and are the ultimate in durability. For corrosion protection, the Tuf-Cloth and Blue Wonder Armadillo can't be beat. The Armadillo is very similar to Renaissence Wax, but a lot less expensive.

I use break free now.... in the past it was good old 3-1 oil.
I tried stp wasnt impressed. I thought it would be slicker then #@*#
But then got scared it would gum up the works
Good knife hunting

I like Breakfree CLP and have used it since the little conflict in SE Asia back in the 60's. It was just plain Breakfree then. It is a military spec item.

Here is a very tough corrosion test of various products for you interest and review.

Unsatisfactory:
Miltec-1: Significant rust along bottom; rust freckling on top.

Wow! I was surprised to see Militec listed as "unsatisfactory" after all the rave reviews I have heard of it.
I wish they would have used Corrosion-X in that test also as it is superior for rust prevention.

Militec shines as a lube, but not as a protectant. But it is still a lot better than nothing.

That expains it then.
Check out the product I keep mentioning and see what you think.
I am in no way affiliated with them but like to brag about a product I have faith in. I have lubed squeeky hinges with Corrosion-X and they are still quiet a year or more later. Amazing stuff I think.

There are a line of automotive products made by a company known as QMI. What the QMI products mainly do is to impregnate metal with a teflon type substance know as PTFE. I have good luck with them but I must admit that I'm not sure if they would work in this particular application.

I have used a lot of Militec with fantastic results. Also Militec sent me a sample of their new synthetic grease. It works better than anything I have ever used on a fishing reel gearbox. Great topic, great thread

I always thought, and use TuffGlide as a rust inhibitor. My impression was that Miltec is a lubricant.

I just purchased some Miltec and intend to use that to lube moveable parts and will continue to rub down a blade with TuffGlide after sharpening.

PTFE and Teflon are the same thing.
PTFE is the substance name and Teflon is Dupont's brand name. ;)

Just from my own personal internet research these rate highly:

CorrosionX
Eezox
Break-Free CLP

I've been using Break-Free for many years but have just received the other two which I plan to test out on guns, knives, general protection, cleaning, and lubrication.
