As most of you already know, I'm a diehard metalhead, and since I'm rather new here, I figured I'd bridge the gap between our "worlds" so to speak ..... here's a few (not so great) pictures of various metalheads and their favorite blades:

Laugh if you will .... but you can't deny the fact that they look as if they have complete faith in their weapon.

Hey Metal Demon,

Cool Pics! We are DEFINATELY the minority here.I like blades and heavy/dark/black/death/speed/power Metal.Don't expect everyone to understand the pics.I can say however, most forumites here respect peoples interests and blades are a strong enough interest to bring us together.

Later,

Bobby

LMAO!!! You all really go out in public like that??? Thats too much

What exactly is a metalhead (seriously, I don't really know what they are exactly)?

Seriously, cool blades though.

To answer your question Commander Chang ... a "metalhead" is a person whose intense and eternal love for "heavy metal" music knows no bounds. It goes beyond simple musical appreciation - the metal music becomes a part of the soul, and some cases becomes a way of life, as it has for me. It's more than just liking metal ..... it's about BEING METAL.

In some circles we are considered social pariah, in others we are feared and perhaps even revered ..... does that help?

Maiden is okay, but I'm more of a 70's metal kinda guy. Sabbath, Zeppelin, Deep Purple...etc. I'm also a big Megadeth and White/Rob Zombie fan though.

I'm also for the 70s and early 80s metal music like Led Zepplin, Sabbath, Nugent, Nazareth, Judas Priest. Seems like the music nowadays doesnt have any complexity to it. Just the same monotonous beats. None of the new guitar players can hold a candle to Jimi Page, or Ted Nugent, IMO.

Aaaaahh, that takes me back. I can recall bashing my forehead on the stage at the Terrible Ten Fingers of Doom (Nugent, for you head scratchers out there), screaming my lungs out when the Metallion crashed onto the stage at JP, and dancing with Eddie at several Iron maiden concerts. Had a knife with me the whole time.

Those pics and something the Duck said make me want to go dig thru my old pics as well. Somewhere buried under my old concert shirts there is a photo of me BRANDISHING my malaysian serpent Kris sword and a Case XX Bowie knife at the camera. Gotta find that.

Alittle Velitrius/Metal trivia for ya: I was at a halloween party where Metal Church played, and was at the VERY FIRST Nirvana show. It was played at my buddy's house. There will be a book coming out about it sometime down the road. (the Nirvana show, not the Halloween party)

Knives bridge many gaps between the various media, whether it be Music, TV, Movies, Comics or Literature. Common ground is everywhere, people simply have to look for it, and similar interests make it easy to find. Good stuff, Demon.

Now that some of you have had the opportunity to see the blades that some of my metal-brethren carry .... could someone PLEASE tell me what type of knives they are?

In most circles, dressed like that, I think you'd inspire mostly chuckles. To find a circle in which a getup like that is revered, you'd have to travel to the Island of the Kiss Tribute Bands.

Please, let me clarify ..... I personally don't dress like the band members in those pictures.

I am not surprised, however that some of you find the "corpse paint" as it is called, humourous. I cannot expect you to completely understand every facet of our subculture, but let me assure you that their appearance DOES play an extremely vital role in the music they create and the imagery that they wish to portray. If you'd like to know exactly WHY and HOW that is, feel free to ask, but I'd rather not post those reasons now, so as not to clog Bladeforums with alot of off-topic information ...... unless, of course I am prompted to do so,

Thanks for your interest, I always more than willing to promote my love for metal!

Metal-Demon,

Reminds me of myself 20 years ago.

The more things change the more they remain the same.

Wasn't it KISS that started the face paint, odd dress, stage show thing ... way back when?

BTW very cool pictures, thanks for sharing.

Off to find my Heavy Metal DVD....

UCKS!!!::: Sorry! It's all about Metallica. No, they haven't sold out or gone soft!

I wanted the knife seen in that third pic BIG TIME when I was younger... 13, I think. My dad wouldn't let me order it. I'll get it some day. Faith in your blade (be it as a weapon or a tool) is important.

Those guys with them blades look funny. Went to a black metal show a few weeks ago and couldn´t remember having that much fun at a concert for a long time...LMAO. Gotta get me some Burzum or Impaled Nazarene cds.
To stay on topic: The knives are probably from CAS Iberia or Marto...

koRn is too much teenage angst for me. I can't stand that. Every time I hear Papa Roach I just wanna whip his ass and tell him to get over it!

Er...yeah.
