Metalheads and Blades ......

Hey Metal-Demon...
Here's a look into my cd case..
wink.gif

Ancient, Bathory, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, Immortal, Limbonic Art, Marduk, Mayhem, Moonspell, Old Man's Child, Rotting Christ...sound good? And yeah, I've worn corpse paint "a time or two" in my life....

What a grand display of "Metal-Pride" I see before me! Mighty "HAILS" to you all .... well, at least those who are worthy!

I do find it fascinating though that there are some individuals here at this forum whose only chance at having an open mind would be if their skull had been severely blugeoned with a dull instrument, but then again, to those people ignorance is bliss ....... I say let them be happy and content!

Was never much of a "MetalHead"
My thing was Killing Joke, Gang of 4, Joy Division, etc. There's a subtle demarcation line there somewhere, but I don't know where it is. Once had a cheap stilletto-type folder go flying out of my (leather-obviously) jacket pocket while slam-dancing circa 1983. (token knife content). Perhaps this should be in Community?

Heh...how things change...Anyways, I'll comment on this::

Alittle Velitrius/Metal trivia for ya: I was at a halloween party where Metal Church played, and was at the VERY FIRST Nirvana show. It was played at my buddy's house. There will be a book coming out about it sometime down the road. (the Nirvana show, not the Halloween party)

Metal Church, who's still tearing up the Northwest music scene, along with Nevermore, was THE premiere band of the late 80's, so much so that Nirvana, Metallica, etc were the openers during a Metal Church show, but most people have never heard of the mighty Church, go figure...

Onward, as my musical tastes go from the brutally hard: Metalium, Nevermore, Blind Guardian, Metal Church, old Sepultura, to the highly progressively complex: Fates Warning, Dream Theater, Artension, Symphony X, Angra, Royal Hunt...though not many have heard of any of the bands listed above, which is a shame, as they contain some of the best musicianship and music out there; none of this regurgitated MTV B.S.

Welcome Metal Demon \M/

As you can see I am a GWAR fan, but I also like Cannibal Corpse and a few other bands as well.

But I usuially carry what ever I can get my hands off, even if it bends the local laws here.

Dying Fetus, Internal Bleeding!?

In the end, Black Sabbath started it all...

Are the blades and spikes forged or stock removal?

You know, I just can't figure what it is. So what, some stuff looks goofy to some people. I'm no paragon of social decorum, but it's going a step too far to laugh in this guy's face over something like that. Especialy since he knew he was taking a risk to try and reach out to some people and show a little more of what he's about.

I may be mistaken, but I thought the entire point of these forums was so we could all find some kindred spirits, may b.s. a little, or even get into an arguement once in a while, but at the end of the day we were all buds.

What is it? Do you feel threatened? Are you just trying to ridicule somebody to get him to step in line with what you consider "normal"?

Personaly, I've never bought into the idea of a subculture based around musical preferences. I can understand it, though. Music is a form of artistic expression, and as with any art, some of it really speaks to some people, so much that it becomes an integral part of their lives. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

I could sit here and say "Swampers like metal, too", or "some of my best friends are Metalheads and Rivetheads", but that's meaningless I'm okay, you're okay bullhonkey.

I think somebody owes somebody an apology.

Oh yeah, that one knife with the spiked D guard is a King Cobra. I don't know who makes'em, but they were advertised in a lot of magazines a few years back.

I think the "King Cobra" is made by United or some other El Cheapo company. My buddy's little bro has one.
wink.gif
I'm all about "Heavy Metal" and all, but some people just take it too far.
wink.gif
The make-up thing was just part of the era...it's all a show. You don't see many of these guys still doing that. I mean really...you have to grow up sometime.
wink.gif
I'm not referring to anyone in particular...just my thoughts.

...but hey, to each, his own. Some of the most intelligent people are "Metal-Heads." Hell, I thought I was too, when I was 13.

Dano: Don't worry bro, you're not the only one into those bands that you listed! I'm a fan of all of them .....Hails!

V-1: Dying Fetus and Internal Bleeding? Of course! Even the grind/speedcore can't escape my love for metal!

Snickersee: I HIGHLY doubt that I'll get that apology, my friend, but thanks for your opinion! I must disagree with you on one point though, I never feel that "being true to ones self" is a risk in any sense of the word. I feel very strongly about METAL and being "laughed at" by someone behind a computer screen reeks of a higher form of cowardice in my book. Besides, much worse things have been said by much better people, if you catch my meaning ..... and I believe you do. Thanks ..... AND HAILS!

Hey Dano, Love the Southern guitar army. Saw the outlaws at an outdoor show at a country club in MA. The stage was up against the woods by a lakeside beech. They were finishing up with Riders and just as they started with "one dark and cloudy day" The singer points behind the crowd. Everyone turns just in time to see black storm clouds and lightning coming over the mountain behind us. Before the song was out the storm had rolled across the lake, lightning striking all over. Canceled the rest of the bands. You should have seen the sh!t eating grin the band had though the whole song. Can't pay for that kind of timing. To keep the Metal theme I was at a Motor Head show the week before. For those of you who don't know, Lemmy claims they are the origin of the term head banger. Fans in England are called bangers. So Motor Head Bangers to Head Bangers. At least that's his theory.

I will admit that back in my day (80's) I had A mohawk. I had all the Iron Maiden tapes, posters, videos, and every t-shirt I wore had eddie on it. I also liked punk rock (dead kennedys, agent orange, mod, sod, etc.)
These days it is more about country and classic rock. Thanks MD for bringing back some fond memories.....

Ha! Dead Kennedys, Agent Orange? Everyone knows the Ramones and the Sex Pistols started it all and remain unsurpassed to this day. Except for maybe by the Misfits. Maybe.

I'm glad this topic has caused so many forum users to recall their musical roots. Perhaps some of you will break out those old records and tapes and give them a listen .... if only to reminisce on those mis-spent days of youth.
