I saw where some of y'all were wondering about me on the old thread so here's a new update.
Today is the fourth day out of surgery, which also happened to be the day of my first follow up appointment with my PMP = Pain Management Physician. The first couple of days outta surgery I had quite a lot of pain relief but then it started getting worse again much to my disappointment even remembering what my PMP said about it taking a while to get the pump adjusted properly.
I figured my Dr. would start me out at the same level of dosage that gave me the relief during the trial but come to find out they start everyone at a 0.5 mg/L, which is what he started me out at for the trial.
He also cut my methadone back to 10 mgs. tid from 30 mgs tid and taking that into consideration there was more relief than I realized even though I wasn't feeling it.
Today my PMP boosted my pump up to the 1.0 level I finished the trial with and I can already tell a difference.
He also wants me to try to reduce my methadone to at least a total of 25 mgs and 20 mgs if at all possible so I'll do my damnedest as I would love to be able to get off all of my oral pain meds!
I go back in next Monday the 14th to get my total of 31 staples out, 21 just below my rib cage, 3 in my right side, and 7 in my back where the catheter went in, and probably get my oral meds reduced again as he is boosting my pump up to 1.5 mg/L.
And after talking with my PMP today along with the increased pain relief from the boost to my pump I am even more excited about the final outcome as he said we had a good ways to go if need be!
It'll just take some time.
