After buying a new user does it get pocket time right away ?
How long does it stay in pocket ?
How long do you wait before a new purchase ?
What's you guys do if you make an impulse buy just after a recent purchase , if your still christening a new knife with initial pocket time do you wait before trying the latest knife ?

Depends on the knife. The last knife I bought was 392 days ago. So says my bladehq account.

Hasn't left my pocket since.

In fact I downsized since that purchase, kept 4 folders and one fixed.

I don't impulse buy anymore, I know what I like in a knife, and don't buy just to try something out.

I'm likely an outlier here as well. My last EDC knife purchase was in Dec '10. Its currently in my pocket right now... which I guess means it was ~2100 days ago.

I could totally have a nicer EDC, I might even appreciate one. But so far its met my needs quite easily (admittedly, I'm office bound in a suburban environment, so my needs are pretty low), so I haven't tried to justify a new knife quite yet. Perhaps that will change when my situation does.

Then again, I haven't really ever been one to impulse buy, with any of my hobbies. So maybe thats a contributing factor?

I rarely impulse buy. So far Few regrets. Any new blade gets pocket time as soon as it arrives. Some last longer then others . my last purchase was about a month ago. It is in my pocket now. I can't say how long it will stay there.

Goes in the pocket right away because it replaces a knife that for one reason or another just wasn't hitting my expectations,
or I just wasn't into anymore.

That knife is always sold to fund the "next one"

And that cycle continued for what has seemed forever until about 8 months ago.

Before joining I carried my Buck 482 as my primary folder exclusively for 2 years, but was eventually influenced by the porch to carry knives I didn't really carry, and from there a habit switching it up every once in a while.
I recently got an old sabre USA pocket knife at a yard sale which I decided to edc for a while.
But after maybe a week I bought a Victorinox pocket pal at the local hardware , was sitting on the shelf for 5 yrs and finally decided it needed a home.
I don't necessarily buy any random knife since I do know what I like, but sometimes I buy a knife when I wasn't planning on buying one.

That's when I have to decide to immediately pocket the newcomer or finish trying the other first.

It feels good to find a knife that works and stick with it, but not being a seller it's hard to neglect the others so rotating is what I have to do.

Unless the edge is crap, it goes right into the pocket and I see how it acts and lasts. Then I will touch up the edge with a full sharpening (reprofile if needed) and back into the pocket to see how long that lasts.
Compare that to what I was carrying and make up my mind.
So far my ZT770cfM4 and my Manix 2 Cruwear hold the most pocket time for folders. A modded Becker BK11 San Mai is my edc fixed blade.

2-18-16 XM-18. In pocket everyday except when traveling. Although the real date is today :) but I bought a Buck 110 not as a user, but just cause I wanted one for the collection. I was always jealous of the Boy Scouts who had them. They were the cool kids, now I'm one too.

If owning a buck 110 doesn't make you cool, then I don't know what will 😉
