I'm really ticked off! My weekend EDC alternates between an Umnumzaan and RJ Martin Smooth Overkill. Yesterday it was the Umnumzaan's turn. So I was doing odds and ends around the house. I last used the knife to open a pack of ground beef (dinner). It snowed overnight. I cleaned the driveway off. I jumped in the truck for a quick errand. Before reaching my destination, I realize I don't have the Umnumzaan (no other stops along the way).

I searched the house. My jacket. The driveway. The garage. The attic. The basement. The truck. The trash can (from the dinner waste) . Re-traced steps, over and over. All about 3 times over. Today I raked the snow piles ... searching. NOTHING!!!!

Now I need to wait for the snow to melt! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
I feel like I lost a friend. :(
John

P.S. The only good thing is that my driveway far from the street (and people) so no one will just be stumbling across my friend.

Man, that sucks! I'd be losing my mind looking for my Umnumzaan if that happened to me. Here's praying that you find it sooner than later.

Sorry to hear about the incident. Sounds like the Zaan might well be dropped on the snow and now buried. Zaan is a rather heavy chunk of metal. If you dropped it on solid floor, I think you'd hear the sound of crash unless you had headphones on. I hope you'll recover your friend as soon as the snow melts and that we hear a happy ending to this tragic story soon enough...

Frustrating to say the least. Do you have access to a metal detector? Might be worth a try.

Hope you find your Umnumzaan soon. At least you have the satisfaction of knowing you misplaced it in your own house.

I hope you find your friend. If you didn't hear it land, it may have fallen into the snow somewhere. A metal detector may help, but I don't know how much they cost or how soon you could get your hands on one. I hope you find your Umnumzaan soon.

I hope you find your Zaan soon. Check in places you don't think it might be instead of looking in the same places over and over.

I lost my large regular for 11 months until I finally found it................I had a headlight bulb out and looked in the box where I keep spare hl bulbs and there was my seb.
I Don't remember putting it there...I was happy and suprised to find it.

did u check way under the seat of ur truck. I lost my kabar dozier back lock and it was there even though i had checked 3 times before.

how about raking the drive way?you should feel or hear the sound(it it's a metal rake). checking multiple times from front, side, and in the seats helps. i hate when i've checked a spot and didn't see anything only to find it in that same spot later

sucks it's mia, hope you find it soon

yep use a rake, run around, stomp on all the snow, you have to find it!
otherwise it will be on a hard "stainlessness" test for a while

sorry to hear about the loss
Maxx

If it's really love, it'll come back to you.

I dropped a Seb in the middle of a major lake. It apparently was not love as far as that partucular Seb was concerned.

To all that replied...Thank You!

I did look under the truck seat. And to the several that mentioned I would have heard it hit the driveway, I agree. I don't lose things much, when I do its super irritating. I retraced my steps multiple times, and looking at the same area from different vantage points...i.e. looking under the drivers seat from the passenger side.

Today was in the 50's, so we had a bit of melting going on. I'm about a block away from home when my wife calls to say that she has a surprise for me. Yes, my friend has been found. He was in the snow by the truck passenger door. It must have dropped out when I was cleaning the snow off.

Happy Ending! Thanks All!
John
