I really like hand-done "real" scrimshaws. Each of these scrims are unique and that makes them highly collectible to me. I will add the other knives to this thread as I get them.

Here's a link on these for info: http://www.collectors-of-schrades-r.us/Ads/Amexs.pdf

Here's my first: a nice Andrew Jackson "Big Timer" 51-OT pattern (SC504), serial #1212

yea those are one of my "top sets" to get my grabbers on someday. tried some bids in the past and to date have come up short.....complete sets seem pretty rare. nice find dave---brady

Thanks for showing that Dave!! Definately one of my cherished sets, I have seen the single knives on sale here and there. They can fetch a nice price by themselves.

Russell

I recently acquired the 5" lockback with George Washington on it. This knife has the serial # SS38 which indicates it was a salesman's or shop sample outside of the regular serialization.

It has an extra strong snap to it compared with a lot of my other LB-7 type knives and certainly seems to be a quality blade.

Here are some scans for your viewing pleasure:

I have a set of 5 in the original box. I think I have had them since they first came out. I ordered them from AMEX. The micarta has aged to a reddish color. They are unused as knives. Are they worth anything on the collectors market?

TayPerry

Yes, pretty collectible TayPerry. Not super hot, but people do like big sharp well made knives with Micarta handles. Hard to get full value selling complete sets, and usually breaking them up is more effective. Just my opinion, and may not be true in every situation.

To add to it, they are patriotic, and the scrimshaw is very nice quality.

If you look at the link to my pdf that Thawk put up, at the end you will see scans of the original art work that was used to develop the scrims. they were quite large and the detail was awesome. the reduction for the knives didn't loose much either.

I landed this Lincoln barlow online and it's a second. The rivet spinner came down twice on the handle and bored shallow circles into it. I can't find anything else wrong with it.

The defect makes this an ideal user to my mind. This barlow is one that will get carried and used. (I only paid $15.00 ;)) I'm still hunting for another "perfect" example to display.
