micarta and chemicals...

I am planning on placing black linen micarta scales on my BW1. Then, sandblasting, followed by parkerizing (micarta included). Question, will the parkerizing solution and temp (195 deg F) wreck the micarta? Will the sandblasted finish still show on the micarta?

Check the temperature rating on your epoxy, 195 sounds a bit high for some of them.

I am going to use JB weld.

Your pushing the line with 195. I wouldn't try it. JB weld is tough but I wouldn't feel safe above 160.

I guess that will be a good experiment. JB weld a piece of wood to metal and stick it in the oven at 250 deg. If it doesn't work, any other thoughts????

I guess I don't need to experiment. Web site states it good to 500 deg F and resists chemicals. Now, how about the micarta and it withstanding parkerization?

Put the handles on with screws

Then you can take them off, do the parkerizing, and put them back on.
