Micarta cracking over time?

I have several fixed blades with micarta scales, ranging from a semi rough texture all the way to a polished shine. It is a beautiful material when done right, but if taken care of, will the "polished" scales crack over time?

My brother has had a Kershaw Random Task ( with the prettiest polished micarta scales ever) for at least 15 years and the scales still look brand new. Micarta is amazingly tough stuff, arguably the toughest handle material this side of titanium or steel.

Ps. You do not have to take care of it......it is that durable.

I have Mike Franklin fixed blade knife from at least 20 years ago. The paper micarta is thin and shows wear and is tinted from age, but no cracks.

One of my favorite handle materials. Have not had any problems with it.

I haven't had any issues with micarta scales yet. Dark stains from palm sweat, yes, but no cracking/splintering.
