I was given this piece of Micarta by an electrician. He stated it was used as some sort of electrical insulation. That’s all I know. Lead me in the right direction. Thanks

Help me load a pic please first. Lol. Sorry, first post ever on here

Is it green, kinda a lime green semi translucent material? If so then its not micarta its g10. Its a fiberglass laminate

Best way to upload a pic is to upload to a hosting site like flickr or imgur, then you can either embed it into your post, or just copy/paste a link to the picture on the hosting site. Micarta is often used as an electrical insulator, though not all micarta is great for knife handles. Some of the industrial stuff is very tough and will burn up bandsaw blades and grinding belts in short order. If its very old, there's a slight chance it could be original Westinghouse Micarta, which has become very desirable and quite valuable. Westinghouse is usually a lighter brown to butterscotch color, though I've seen some that it dark brown, or even closer to red in color.

interesting link, marc. this looks like some tuff stuff-
