Micarta makers?

Hi guys,

I've got knives made of a few different materials, but I've never ventured into micarta. I've got a new Paramilitary 2 on the way, though, and so I thought it might be a good opportunity to try something new.

It's of the M4 variety, which I expect to patina since I live on the gulf coast, so I thought a 'vintage' sort of micarta might fit nicely.

But I don't know who makes what. Any suggestions on where I should look to find the very best micarta scales?

Thanks!

If you check out the scale builders on the pages there you will see their work and comments from satisfied customers. Also check the GBU if there have been any problems.

Hmmm. Interesting. Westinghouse micarta is the old stuff, if I understand correctly?

Is there a practical advantage — higher quality of some sort — compared to newer materials?

And thank you!

Ah, man. I wish I could make my own.

But some time ago I came to terms with my own lack of skill.

Yes, it's the old stuff made by Westinghouse and hasn't been made for quite some time. It has great aesthetic appeal and has some novelty-value to it (being that it's vintage).

Westinghouse is some good stuff but with research making your own isn't that hard would add a extra part of a knife being your own
