Micarta Monday - Traditional Knives Only, Please

Is bakelite a type of micarta? I always thought it was a type of resinous plastic, but without the cloth/fiberglass/paper medium 🤔
Regardless, that's a cool knife :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thanks. They have phenolic resin in common. And the scales seem lighter than say a linen micarta type product. From future AI overlord:

No,Bakelite is not Micarta, although they are both phenolic composite materials. Bakelite is a specific type of phenolic resin created by Leo Baekeland, and Micarta is a general term for a range of similar materials, some of which use Bakelite as a binding agent.

Don't trust your AI overlords too much - Micarta is not a general term (although it gets used that way among knife people) - it's a registered trademark of Norplex.
