Micarta options

Here’s a pic of the buffed black linen micarta that I got.

How are the buffed micarta handles buffed? Is it done on a wire wheel, or is some other method used?

Those look really good!
Please provide an eloquent and insightful review of the benefits of each type so I can justify ordering some.

I haven’t put them to use yet but my first thoughts are that the buffed provides the least grip but nicely allows you to change handle positions quick and easy and is also the most attractive in my opinion. I personally wouldn’t be to concerned about them not being super grippy because the ergonomics are so good on this blade it feels like it it part of my hand.

The unbuffed linen have a great texture to them and I imagine will develop a natural buffed look as I work with the blade. (Hand oils and the elements it’s subjected to). You could always add a mineral oil if you wanted to darken them up faster. This blade will likely be my main user as I do prefer the grippy texture and plain user look.

I have not mounted the Tera Tuff yet so I can’t accurately speak to them but there is a lot of reviews of them on the forum. So many that I had to order a pair to try ;). Handling them compared to the unbuffed linen ones feels similar but that may change with hard chopping use or once wet.

All and all, I have come to the conclusion that you can’t go wrong with any of the above selections.

So we got the difference between buffed and unbuffed Linen (very different looking) , but still don't have any pics showing the difference between unbuffed linen vs unbuffed canvas? Are those similar looking??

Unfortunately I don’t have unbuffed Canvas to do a side by side but maybe someone can post one here. I know I have seen a few on the forum just can’t remember where.
