micarta or g10 on the NMFBM

Micarta on any size. Not only does it feel and grip better, but is also much lighter. The lighter weight means more to me on an EDC than on the bigger blades.

You can do more with the bright colors with G-10...but I like bland anyway.

You are absolutely right about the weight but I like some heft on a smaller knife. Somehow the micarta feels more secure

I ordered my NMFBM with black G-10. So whats it gonna be maybe 3 or 4 lbs heavier than the micarta?:rolleyes::D

Yeah, not to mention cold, hard and slick:D

I'm kidden man, on a knife this size I don't think you'll notice the extra weight to much. And Black G-10 or Black paper and Satin or DC is as good looking a combo as there are.
The pattern cut into the busse slabs along with the fushion handle should make slipage a non issue also. I'm just allergic to G-10:p

I am a real fan of the black/tan and green/black g-10 magnum handles. These are perfectly shapéd and have a fantastic texturized look to them similar to an English Tweed. For me these are the best handles in the world. Second place would go to the Randall Comando style. I don't think one can really feel much of a difference between Micarta and G-10 - although the surface texture of micarta is more tactile. The only problem with the Black/tan g-10 handle is that when you sand it down you lose the tweedy look and they turn into swirls in the g-10. I call this look "the lava lamp" look. It reminds me of a sixties hippie video clip with pseudo psicodelic swirls. Therefore in the specific case of the CGNFBM which has the new sanded g-10 handles I wouldn't go with the tan and black g-10. Therefore, my decision: Although the tan micarta is a tried and true classic Busse handle and I am fond of them because my first Busse had a tan handle. I would go with the black micarta. A solid classic . Doesn't draw unheeded attention to itself. Ths is a classic big knife tactical color reminiscent of the modern machete. An "I mean business" type of look with the great micarta grip. The black g-10 is really cool as well, maybe next time.
