micarta or g10

I'm fixin to order me a rodent waki... and was wondering if the g10 is worth the extra moneys...
any input/explanation would be greatly appreaciated
 
This a thread that has been beat to death. The consensus is Canvas Micarta. I don't agree with the majority. I prefer G-10 but there's nothing wrong with Micarta. I prefer paper or linen to canvas but I have several canvas micarta handled knives.

OH! EDIT for sticking to the subject, Micarta is much lighter, but I wouldn't let that sway your vote. The difference isn't that great. The color and looks and feel are way more important. If you like the looks of the G10 better then by all means go for it! :) The G10 is definitely more colorful and bright.

That's why Busse's machining or bead blasting from other makers makes all the difference. I don't like the hand smoothed on a Busse. The machining looks great and functions even better.
 
I prefer Canvas when use is the most important thing.

I prefer G10 for when looks matter more than use.

I prefer Paper if you're never/rarely gonna use it.

In all cases, it's small degrees of difference.

I pretty much agree with all of that. Micarta for users.
 
There's always the Scrapizashi, that's got a sweet cord wrap!! That's right, the Dogs are runnin loose in the Hog pen as well!!! Hahaha

I could agree with that. All my biggest, favorite users are machined canvas micarta.

I prefer canvas Micarta for it's "gripiness". For me, it just feels better in my hand.

As for the Vermin & Strays, (a.k.a. Rats & Dawgs) they are, after all, Family. Let's make them feel welcome and maybe they will someday "see the light". :D ;) :p

I was going to say that "I" like micarta over G10. Then I was going to mention that a wrapped Scizzy from the Yard is an option but I see that my bro Jrod already nailed it. Now, this is where I say get what you like, but get at least one!

Remember: SOME of those Dogs have also been HOGS longer than some of the "regular" HOGS here!;):D:thumbup: (And Rats before THAT!)
