Hi guys. Not sure if this topic has been covered before but my search turned up butkiss so I figured I'd ask. I have couple of knives I'd like to strip the coating from but I'm afraid it would damage the micarta scales. Unfortunately removal of the scales isn't an option as they are riveted on. Does anyone have any experience with paint stripper on micarta? Thanks!

It won't phase G-10, micarta is quite stable too and I wouldn't worry about it damaging the slabs themselves but it could possibly stain/bleach/mess up the coloring. Someone with actual experience will hopefully chime in here.

Have you read through the sticky at the top "What's the toughest handle material- G10, micarta, or carbon fiber?" It has some good information in it.

Micarta acts like wood, so discoloration should be the worst visual problem. If its canvas based, I'd watch out for it absorbing and holding onto the paint stripper... wouldn't want that on your hands.
