anyone know where to purchase micarta pins, or pins made from other similar material. I want to expand beyond the typical brass and nickel silver, but I have never been able to find a place that sells them.

Thanks,

Mike

I like fiberglass rods. They're much stronger than micarta rods. You can also use carbon fiber rods. I've used them all and prefer fiberglass. The carbon fiber rods will leave a black smear on your handle when you're grinding to shape that's hard to get out. Check out www.goodwinds.com.

I bought a ton of fiberglass rods from Goodwinds a little while back but haven't used them yet. They were super cheap because I got them from their "seconds" category.

I like the micarta pin stock from McMaster-Carr. I've been doing a bushcraft model with them for a while now.

Look in industrial suppliers, like McMaster-Carr. In industry, the material is called Garolite. It is available in many sizes and colors. RC Hobby shops also carry it.

Thank you all - I appreciate the responses and the help. I did find Garolite, I had never known it was the same thing.
