Micarta Question

While working with micarta, i usually find that one side of the handle slabs is much darker than the other. Almost everytime i work with the stuff that happens. Can someone answer why this happens and how to prevent this.
(I like the lighter side)

Getting moisture on the micarta will darken it. Oil from your hands will do it too.

Scrub the crap out of both sides using a toothbrush with dish soap and Ajax/Comet. That should fade them back to their original even finish.
I prefer the faded look but some like oil for a darker finish.
