Has anybody tried the Micarta Shotblocker laminate yet? It's some sort of anti-ballistic sheet, comes in various thicknesses. I particularly liked the basket weave look.
I've also been looking for a supplier other than Professional Plastics to get a small piece for evaluation. PP is way high pricewise on this material and others that I have looked at.

We had a similar material tested in 2004. We sent scales to 14 knifemakers for evaluation. The consensus was the material look good but had one major problem. The fabric frayed badly when the scales were contoured. The fraying problem was not solved.

Good to know- I've always had the concern that glass laminate might do just that and cause injury to the new owner of a knife I made. I do however use a lot of the thin cyanacrylate that Woodcraft sells to do the final seal on spacers and PC board material to prevent fraying or separating.
