Comparing a BATAC with G-10 to a SJTAC with micarta it would appear G-10 is heavier. I know the SJTAC has a longer blade which would attribute to a more blade heavy feel.

I'm also surprised at how different a SJTAC is to a BATAC. I thought the blade was just going to be a bit longer but there are so many subtle differences, the SJTAC is more angled while the BATAC is straighter, the edge from belly to choil on the SJTAC seems not to be in a straight line while the BATAC seems straight - I thought this was because of how I sharpened it but on inspection of some pictures of some mint SJTAC's it looks to be the design !!

I'm even more impressed with Jerry now - any other maker might have just made the blade longer and used the same cad design or whatever. They are 2 totally different animals... subtly though !! ;)

I prefer Micarta as well. I think they are both as strong, aesthetically though, I just like Micarta.

I used to like micarta better....but lately I've switched to G10. I don't see any performance differences (and, yep..I am ready for people to disagree) and prefer the way it looks.

mmmmmmm Sand Storm G10.....

I like the feel of the g-10 on this badger but I still think I prefer micarta - old school is best school

G-10 is just too hard for me. Especially with machined handles, the machine work tends to almost be sharp. It does look damn good though.

I like em both.

I like both (or all, considering all varieties of Micarta). Depends on the knife; the handle shape/design/machined texture, and the intended use. For example, I wont by paper micarta for a knife that is going to get excessively abused. But for a pretty shelf/safe queen, it's hard to beat black paper micarta.

I really like Micarta better. I can get more knife for the money. :D

Funny thing is I use to like G-10 better, but of late I have moved toward Micarta!!!

Canvas micarta all day every day :D

I was actually under the impression that G10 is a stronger material than Micarta...
