Micartas on the BK1

So wad's the advantage of adding a Micarta handle? Does it increase the performance of the blade handling?

I get a better grip with the micarta over the std handles. However, the std handles are confortable just not as secure as I like.

Micarta is fairly easy to work with a 1 inch belt sander or a 1/4 sheet hand sander as long as you take your time and test often.

Wet sand now and then with some 220 and test the grip feel and sand as needed.

So after sanding, the Micarta blade handle will be even smoother then when purchased? IF I chop at things hardly, will the blade slip out of my hand?

If you just sand the Micarta it is alway going to have a rough or raw surface and when wet gets even grippier.

Soup Monger did a really nice job on the Ranger griip panels on his BK10, they alos look to be a slick high polish G10 rather than Micarta.

You will be fine with any grade of Micarta on the BK1.
The original black "plastic" handles are pretty slippery, and smooth.
Anything is an improvement over them.

The Camillus Micarta handles are textured, also, giving a better grip.

When using a BK1 for heavy hard work, the key will be to wear leather gloves.
In warm weather I wear fingerless leather gloves.

For light work, you won't be stressing your hands and palms enough to worry about it.
