This is a case of Coop being a wizard with a scanner.

Thanks Coop. That knife really shows the quality of the man's work.

That knife sold at the BLade show 2 years ago for about 1/2 its value.
JW Randall's wife bought it for him!

Can someone fill me in on his story? ... Why did he give up knifemaking, having so much talent at it?
David

Mr. Connor has not quit making knives. He just doesn't have much time because of his job; he is a workaholic and a perfectionist! One of the nicest guys you would ever meet. He is a "mastersmiths master" as is shown by the fact that his knives are sought after by the makers themselves. He has been put on Jerry's list of mastersmith's that can be voted on to come to Jerry's micro-show. I suspect that in 2007 he will be in attenance and for those of us there, we will have a chance to get one. I have been on his list for several years for a few...we'll see.

He has definitely not given up knifemaking, but you wouldn't know it from the number of his knives that you see.

Here is a link to a picture of a Michael Connor Dagger that I just purchased.

Congratulations on that dagger, Jim. That one just oozes quality.

Nothing earth shattering...

I saw those pics on Nordic, and it certainly looks like a very nice knife, but so far I'm not seeing what's the fuss is about. The design is very traditional, "ABS" style - not that there's anything wrong with it, but it's yet another one...

Just like Joss, I too think that this is a very nice knife, but really nothing all that special. I have however seen knives by this maker that do show the kind of work that he is capable of.

It is clearly classic ABS MS 101 circa 1990. Which is just fine.

The interesting question is whether, or not, the fit and finish match the hype.
