Michigan knife law is not preemptive like our gun law. Counties, cities and townships might have very different laws than the State. It's a minefield.
Detroit has a specific prohibition on blades over 3" and Dearborn bans all knives.
Check your local municipality and the areas you work in or travel frequently.
We need to pressure our State Reps to give us a simple, preemptive law that says, "If you use a knife to commit a crime, you go to prison"
The State issues a permit to allow concealed carry of handguns, but we can't be trusted with an automatic knife? rediculous
And another thing that grinds my gears: Law enforcement and people with one arm can legally possess auto knives in Michigan, but it is illegal for anyone in Michigan to sell them.
I know there are some shops that do sell them, but it is illegal according to the statute.
It's BS and the State is losing revenue because of it.
