Just letting anyone with plans on going to the U.P. Know:
I just received a call from my dad, approximately 5,000 acres are on fire right
now in the newberry area. They had to go 70 miles out of the way in order to get around it. Michigan DNR is saying it has the potential to be one of the 10 worst in Michigan history because of the severe drought.

Update: Received a call right after posting - Michigan and Minnesota firefighters are currently trying to stop it from crossing 123. There are alot of hunting cabins in it's path if it crosses the road.

Hey Guys....

Bwilson...

Yaa I heard this today on MPR....

Will be watching the Channel 7 news tonight to see how it's going..

This concerns me as we are headed there in a couple of weeks,, although not to the UP,, but Lancing...

Nothing worse than going camping and having a fire ban..

Had that once this year all weekend and it was a Drag....

Thanks for the HeadZup..

I'm not surprised though. Its been real touch and go where the rain lands this year - and not much at that.
