Micro Brand watches ?

I recently got a Vaer DS4 Meridian tactical in 38mm... I paid 370€ (including 70€ VAT for the self import from the US)

Quite a good watch, but it has some rough edges, and I needed to work a bit to smooth the crown and the caseback...

I'm not a big fan of the AliX watchbrands, even if I have a 39mm Tandorio titanium flieger, that is not bad for the 56€ I paid for it.

I rather take Microbrands that have more distiguished designs, like Helm, RZE, CW or even Dekla.

That’s a good looking watch sir

I've learned a little more about Chinese microbrands since I posted last. Pagani has a reasonably good reputation meaning you get reasonable value for your money. There are some Chinese brands rated higher but their prices are higher too. I bought a Pagani copy of the Omega Speedmaster from Amazon during a black Friday sale and it turned out to be a good watch. Some of the popular microbrands are mostly available on aliexpress and I haven't gotten to the point of trying to buy something through them yet.

I don't have an issue with microbrands that copy famous watches but for the most part I won't wear one. I'm always afraid someone will ask me how I like my "___" and I'll have to admit that I'm wearing a "homage", which to most non watch enthusiasts as "fake". I don't think many of the general public know what a Speedmaster is so I don't worry when I'm wearing my Pagani version. I do have a couple of homage watches that are based on Rolex styling but my 2 variations aren't as recognizable to the general public as a "copy" so I don't worry about wearing them.

There are some microbrands that I really like and I'm always looking at microbrands to see if they offer any original styling that I might like. Helm was mentioned and I like some of their designs. Deep Blue is another brand that I like, mostly for their divers with tritium but they don't have very many of those in their current lineup. I have a number of watches on my wishlist but I have too many already that I'm trying to wear. Earlier in my watch collecting I would buy and sell a lot, now that the watches in my rotation are watches that I really like I can't sell any of them to buy new watches.

I have several micro brand watches...some are better executed than others. Some really are punching at a higher weight class, value wise.

I can't get behind "replica" watches. To me those are just fakes and should not be made. To be clear, this is different than "Homage" watches, where the design features are similar, but with the logo of the actual production company. If the watch is not made by Omega, Rolex, TAG, etc...it should NOT be marked as such.

I have no issue with companies that take design cues from popular watch design, so long as they give credit and don't try to pass it off as something it's not.

Replicas are straight up forgeries.
