It uses bearings.
How is the detent? I want one, but if the extent is light, then I may wait/hope for an auto version
This is how mine is.My Amphibian works like it is supposed to work. Under normal attempts the blade will not drop. If you put a lot of wrist action in, the blade will flip out into lock.
There is no ball detent on a Ram Lock. The lock spring pressure on the tang holds the blade locked when it is closed.
If you hold the lock unlocked the blade swings freely.
I noticed the same hot spot but only thought of taking a jewelers file and knocking if the 90degree edge of the g10. It is thin there do I left it alone and got used to it. Your mod would fix that entirely and doesn’t look bad at all to me. Nicely done!I am a user not a collector. I used the heck out of my original Amphibian 20 years ago, wore it out.
I fully intend to use my Amphibian Ram Lock. I found that the finger cut out and jumping in the G-10 caused a hot spot for me, so I ground them off.Easy since there are no liners.
May not be as pretty but it sure feels better now,
