I would argue that the new Rike version is not an “upgrade”. It is a production version of the Anax. Production versions get rid of the custom details…like using standard hardware and a blade that won’t show scratches on the production.
You make a good point and although it is still an "upgrade" of the original for the reasons listed, it's almost like comparing organic store bought apples to apples grown in your backyard. For pure collectors the originals are like pure customs vs productions so the case of can customs be compared to productions comes into play. By contrast the Marfione Stitches are customs and for some they can't be compared to the production versions. However, for the actual knife user, having hardware that is easier to use, easier to clean and have blades that show less marks and scratches far out weigh the "refindedness" of a semi-polished or satin blade. Plus the price differences are no joke and there's no debating the higher degree of usefulness that an overtravel lock bar stop provides (again for actual usage).
Fair points though......keep those Anax pics coming because deep down I'm a fan of both these models and no real discrimination when it comes to collecting
